Bloody sun

The bloody sun

Covers the deep night,

The bloody sun,

Erupts from your delicate body,

And a wreath of flowers,

On your fresh grave

Adorns your death,

My grief decorates

The rain of your tears,

Washes over me,

Mother!

Your heart pounds,

Surrounds the void of my life,

Inwards,

Direct me,

In the trail of tears,

Into your tomb,

Onto your death,

So I will not be able to see.

make food to eat

Have you heard of hairstylists, nail stylists,
or stylists who work with actors and models. Now you can be a "food
stylist". The next time you see a menu or a cookbook, take a look at
the pictures and notice how appealing, colourful, appetizing and
realistic they look. That is the work of a food stylist.

It’s like a special-effects job. Food stylists can work for
advertising agencies, magazines, and TV production studios — or for
themselves. A food stylist prepares and arranges food for all kinds of
photography. Using their style, creativity, and their special sprays
and tools, they come up with as many tricks as possible to make food
look mouth watering and delicious.

Saba Gaziyani, a reputed food photographer and stylist says, "Food
stylists must have a good understanding of food presentation rather
than preparation. One must understand the basic chemistry of food to
know how it reacts to light, heat, air and other elements. Food styling
is an art form. It takes dedication and hard work. Training in
photography is a plus point. The ability to work with clients, and
photographers meeting the deadlines and working under pressure are also
essential. One of the best ways to become a food stylist is to work
with an already established one as his or her assistant so you can gain
as much experience as possible."

Some food stylists have a bachelor’s degree in hotel management, but
what really counts for this job is experience in cooking and
photography. This is an art - it takes skill, experience, and technique
as it is not about what your eyes are seeing – it’s about what you see
through the lens of a camera. Many food stylists work as professional
chefs before becoming stylists.

sports news

With a month remaining until the
opening ceremony of one of the most scrutinised Olympic Games in
history, the time has come for Beijing to deliver on seven years of
promises and billions of dollars spent.

On July 13, 2001, the state news agency Xinhua hailed
the decision to award the Olympic Games to Beijing as being a
"milestone in China’s rising international status and a historical
event in the great renaissance of the Chinese nation".

Six months ago, preparations were going to plan with
gleaming new venues and infrastructure almost completely in place for
the August 8-24 Games. But violent unrest in Tibet in March followed by
global anti-Chinese protests have marred Beijing’s final countdown to
the Games.

Moreover, the threat of terrorism and pollution have presented the Communist authorities with new challenges.

However, with the 31 venues completed and the army of
migrant workers putting the finishing touches to a $40 billion upgrade
of the city’s once-creaking infrastructure, organisers are upbeat.

"We are fully prepared for the opening of the Beijing
Olympic Games," organising committee vice president Jiang Xiaoyu said
last week. "We are going to use the last 36 days to further perfect the
arrangements."

China’s rulers wanted to use the Games to promote
internal stability and show off a confident, increasingly influential
economic power to the rest of the world.

After the public relations disaster of the March 14
Tibet riots and the protest-disrupted international leg of the Olympic
torch relay, some have questioned whether China’s leaders care anymore
about external opinion.

"China wants the Olympics to be applauded by the
international community and at the same time instill a sense of pride
in the Chinese people," said Jiang Qisheng of the China chapter of
International PEN, an association founded to defend freedom of
ex-pression.

"But stability is more important. International
applause is ranked only second. If forced to choose, China would rather
have stability."

The May 12 Sichuan earthquake and the genuine
outpouring of emotion over the death of nearly 70,000 people altered
some perceptions of China, turning the award of the Olympics "from
obscene accolade to worthy reward" in the words of British commentator
Simon Jenkins.

But visa restrictions for visitors, plans to rid
Beijing of petitioners, the homeless and migrant workers as well as the
tight control of the media on "sensitive" legs of the domestic torch
relay point to obsessive stage-management.

China says it views terrorism as the biggest threat
to the Games and a 100,000-strong anti-terrorism force is already on
alert. Rights groups say Beijing is using the threat of terrorism to
suppress internal dissent, especially in the restive far-Western
regions of Tibet and Xinjiang, which is home to more than 8 million
Muslim Uighurs.

"We are worried that there will be an even more
wide-scale crackdown on the Uighur people, especially over the next
month," said Dilxat Raxit, spokesman for the exiled World Uyghur
Congress.

"China is using the final opportunity the Olympics presents to portray Uighurs to the international community as terrorists.

"We have always opposed China holding the Olympics. We are the biggest victims of it, even more so than the Tibetans."

Free Tibet is asking British athletes to express
support for its cause by making a "T for Tibet" sign during the Games,
it said in a statement on Monday.

American, Dutch and Australian athletes have already
indicated their intention to express their concerns about human rights
during the Games.

what is love

Scientific Answers

Researchers (Hatfield & Rapson, 1995) have broken up love into two main types:

  • Passionate love
which involves continuously thinking about the loved one and also
involves warm sexual feelings and powerful emotional reactions.

  • Companionate love is having trusting and tender feelings for someone who is close to you.

Now
one of the best known theories of love (which means an educated guess
that isn't proven fact) is Robert Sternberg's Triangular Theory of Love.

The three components of the Triangular Theory of Love are:

Passion, the feeling physically aroused and attracted to someone.

Passion
is what makes you feel "in love" and is the feeling most associated
with love. It also rises quickly and strongly influences and biases
your judgment.

Intimacy, the feeling close and connected to someone (developed through sharing and very good communications over time).

Intimacy is what makes you want to share and offer emotional and material support to each other.

Commitment, pledging to your self and each other to strengthen the feelings of love and to actively maintain the relationship.

Commitment
is what makes you want to be serious, have a serious relationship and
promise to be there for the other person if things get tough.

Now Sternberg also uses his Triangular Theory of Love to answer some of the most commonly asked questions about love:

Is there love at first sight?

This is when we are overwhelmed by passion, without any intimacy or commitment (both of which take time). Sternberg calls this infatuated love, Because there is not intimacy or commitment, infatuated love is fated to fade away.

Why do some people get married after being in love for a very short time?

This
is a combination of passion and commitment, but without any intimacy.
Sternberg calls this Hollywood love. This is where two people make a
commitment to each other based on their passion. Unless intimacy
develops over time, this relationship most likely will end.

Can their be love without sex?

Ah yes, companionate love, where intimacy and commitment are present without any sexual passion.

Why doesn't romantic love last?

Passion and intimacy without commitment is Romantic love. When the passion fades, and the intimacy wanes, the relationship ends.

This a close friend sent me e-mail:

Infatuation vs. Love

Infatuation is instant desire - one set of glands calling to another.

Love is friendship that has caught fire. It takes root and grows, one day at a time.

Infatuation
is marked by a feeling of insecurity. You are excited and eager, but
not genuinely happy. There are nagging doubts, unanswered questions,
little bits and pieces about your beloved that you would just as soon
not examine too closely. It might spoil the dream.

Love
is the quiet understanding and mature acceptance of imperfection. It is
real. It gives you strength and grows beyond you - to bolster your
beloved. You are warmed by their presence, even when they are away.
Miles do not separate you. You have so many wonderful little films in
your head that you keep replaying. But near or far, you know they are
yours, and you can wait.

Infatuation says, "We must get married right away. I can't risk losing them."

Love says, "Be patient. Don't panic. Plan your future with confidence."

Infatuation has an element of sexual excitement. Whenever you are together, you hope it will end in intimacy.

Love
is not based on sex. It is the maturation of friendship, which makes
sex so much sweeter. You must be friends before you can be lovers.

Infatuation lacks confidence. When they're away, you wonder if they're cheating. Sometimes, you check.

Love means trust. You are calm, secure and unthreatened. They feel your trust, and it makes them even more trustworthy.

Infatuation might lead you to do things you will regret, but love never steers you in the wrong direction.

Love
is an upper. It makes you feel whole. It completes the circle. It fills
the empty space in your heart. Love is elevating. It lifts you up. It
makes you look up. It makes you think up. It makes you a better person
than you were before. If you have love in your life, it can make up for
a great many things you don't have. If there is no love in your life,
whatever else there is has a lot less meaning.

The secret of our being is not only to live but to have something to live for.
